WALKING IN PROVENCE-France wine tours and walks in vineyards and olive groves

Les Baux castle above St Berthe vineyard on a wine walking tour from our villa in Provence, southern France

Provence and the Cotes Du Rhone are world famous for their quality and variety of wines, from the most simple vins de table to top vintages such as the renowned Chateauneuf du Pape.

We can organise walking tours which include visits to vineyards near to our village of Maussane which do not need the use of a car-- such as Mas St Berthe in the shadow of the Chateau Des Baux de Provence.

French wines are still considered the best in the world, and amongst them Chateauneuf Du Pape is certainly a star, and can be reached in less than an hour's drive from Maussane. We can arrange visits to two or three vineyards with lunch at a village restaurant, or picnic if you prefer. In the afternoon you can finish off for tasting of a different kind--at the Bernard Castelain chocolate factory.

Provence is also of course famous for its Olive Oil, which has been produced in the area since Roman times, but on a smaller scale than other European producers. The Vallée des Baux where Maussane is situated has a number of the best olive oil mills, one - the Moulin Jean Marie Cornille - has been making oil since the 17th Century. There are other products too such as the local 'tapenade' or olive paste which is made there and at the Jean Martin factory which is also in the heart of Maussane.
